Christmas Vacation - Ice Skating - Entry #3

So after we got home and ate lunch, we were off to The Woodlands to do some ice skating!  Well, most of us were.  Israel had gone back to work.  Liz didn't feel well, and William wasn't going to skate anyway so they stayed home, and some of us went purely as spectators and babysitters (we stayed on the brink of the rink, so to speak).  Rachel wanted to skate, but because of a previous skiing-induced knee surgery, she didn't want to take a chance of "bunging" up her knee.  That left 3 adults to take care of 3 babies unless Rachel was taking pictures!  It took a while to get us all in the right place, tickets purchased, and skates on 17 people, but we did it!

And then the skating began......SLOWLY!!

Then after people got to feel a little more comfortable, they got more daring...

Meanwhile back on the sidelines, the rest of us were having some fun (and eating some goldfish crackers and napping)...

And all in all, I think the two that had the most fun of the afternoon were Grammy and Grampy.  What a joy to watch your children and grandchildren having so much fun.  How wonderful it was to see our children jump right in and not only help their own children, but their nieces and nephews as well.  How fun it was to see our grandchildren, who lives miles and miles apart, enjoy their time together.  Though the temperatures on this man-made rink were a little nippy, there were definitely two hearts that were very much on the warm side.

  1. Cute! (The last part especially.) I don't remember it being nippy? But it works!
